Construction began on Fire Station #3 in the spring of 2021 at its location near Twin Lakes Elementary, with completion estimated for spring 2022.

The addition of Fire Station #3 will ensure full fire protection coverage of the entire city, especially in anticipation of the 169 Redefine project and the continued growth on Elk River's eastern side. Fire Station #3, managed by Terra Construction, will include classroom space, a physical training area, and a built in fire tower for endless hands-on training opportunities.

Project Updates

Intersection ClosureFire Station 3 Aug 5 2021

August 5, 2021 - Starting Monday, August 9, utility work associated with Fire Station #3 construction will require the closure of the 191st Avenue/Edison Street intersection. A detour will be marked directing people to use the next intersection further south on Cleveland Avenue via 190th Avenue. The closure is expected to last through Tuesday, August 17, weather depending. View the detour map here.

Sidewalk Closure

Starting, Friday, March 26 a portion of the sidewalk adjacent to the Station #3 site will be closed for the next several months. Please view the closure and pedestrian detour map here.

Groundbreaking CeremonyFire Station #3 Groundbreaking

On Monday, May 17 ground was broken on Fire Station #3, near Twin Lakes Elementary. Not only will this bring prompt emergency services to the east side of the city, the building will also be equipped with apparatus bays, a training tower, classroom, dining and kitchen spaces, offices, showers, a physical training room, as well as a tornado shelter.
