Join us on Friday, September 6, for the Elk River Fire Department fundraiser at Northbound Liquor. We’ll have free beer, wine and craft spirit sampling from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., as well as food, beverages and a silent auction full of amazing items! Don’t miss out on your chance to win tickets to the November 17 Vikings game vs. the Denver Broncos, or the opportunity to own a signed, authenticated, Adam Thielen jersey! We’ll also have a bunch of YETI coolers, an Apple Watch and more to bid on!

The Elk River Fire Department will use the proceeds from this fundraiser to purchase lifesaving equipment including thermal imaging cameras to help detect trapped victims and hot spots, as well as detoxifying driers to reduce cancer-causing exposure in firefighting gear.

If you can't join us at the event, simply add a donation to your total when checking out at Northbound or Westbound Liquor Stores, now through September 11, 2019.  We’ll pass your contribution to the Elk River Fire Department.

Nancy Arnold, August Volunteer of the Month

August Volunteer of the Month, Nancy Arnold Recognized

At the August 19 City Council meeting, Acting Mayor Matt Westgaard presented the August Volunteer of the Month award to Elk River resident Nancy Arnold.

Nancy’s volunteerism stretches beyond our city limits, as much of her time is spent helping with the after-school reading program at Independence Elementary School in Big Lake, as well as serving in various volunteer roles with Zimmerman Elementary School. She also stays busy by helping out at the Big Lake Community Food Shelf, and participating in AmeriCorps Foster Grandparent program. Nancy is also actively involved in the planning of the fall festival service program at Camp Courageous, a non-profit organization providing year-round recreational and respite care opportunities for individuals with special needs located in Monticello, IA.

Please join the city in thanking Nancy for her generous contributions and selfless volunteerism.

Each month the City of Elk River recognizes individuals for their outstanding volunteer efforts. Click here to nominate someone for Mayor Dietz’s Volunteer of the Month award.
