Liquor Store Employment

Join the Liquor Store Team

Did you know Elk River has two municipal liquor stores? What that means is that a portion of the profits generated from liquor operations goes right back into community projects/services, which would otherwise have to be paid for with increased property taxes.

And guess what - we're looking to add some awesome people to the Elk River Liquor Store family! We have immediate openings for part-time Liquor Store Clerks at both Northbound, and Westbound Liquor Stores. Qualified candidates must be available to work evenings and weekends, approximately 15 to 20 hours per week. To learn more, or to apply click here.

169 Intersection
MnDOT Begins Traffic Counts in
Preparation for 169 Redefine Project

Heads up commuters – MnDOT’s project team has started gathering updated traffic counts in preparation for the 169 Redefine project, which will convert Highway 169 to a freeway through Elk River. The team will be gathering traffic counts at 30 intersections along and adjacent to 169 over the next several weeks. The information (gathered through video recordings) will help engineers understand the current traffic demands of the intersections monitored. Commuters should not expect any delays associated with this data collection effort.
We’ll continue to provide updates on the 169 Redefine project whenever new information becomes available through the city’s online alert system Notify Me.

Organics Recycling - Voluntary Drop Off

Changes to City's
Organics Recycling Program

Following the closure of Great River Energy’s trash-to-energy facility, Elk River can no longer offer curbside organics recycling. However, organics recycling will still be available to residents free of charge, with a few minor changes to the program. Instead of a $2 monthly fee for the special blue bags which could be tossed into your regular trash can, the blue bags are provided free of charge to interested residents who are then responsible for dropping off the collected food waste, paper products and other organic recyclables to a designated site. Clearly labeled “Organics Recycling” dumpsters can be found in the parking lot of both City Hall (13065 Orono Parkway) and the Elk River Compost Site (19000 Proctor Road). The City Hall dumpster is available 24/7, while the Compost Site drop off is available anytime with a compost keycard. Both sites are monitored, so please drop off responsibly.

Interested in organics recycling? Email Amanda Bednar (abednar@ElkRiverMN.gov) to have a one-year supply of blue bags shipped to you at no cost.
