Snow Event Lifted
Snow Event No Longer in Effect
Elk River’s Snow Event is no longer in effect and overnight parking is once again permitted on city streets. As plows continue to remove access snow, please be sure to not shovel/plow snow into the streets and ensure all trash and recycling cans are kept in driveways – NOT in the street.

City Offices Closed for New Year's

Holiday Closures and Trash Delays

City offices are closed on Tuesday, January 1 in observance of New Year’s, with trash and recycling collection delayed by one day. Police, Fire, and EMS operations will remain in service at all times. Wishing you all safe and happy New Year's.

Christmas Tree Recycling

Christmas Tree Recycling

In Elk River, curbside Christmas tree recycling is not available, however residents wanting to dispose of a live tree after the holidays can do so at the Compost Site located at 19000 Proctor Road NW. The tree does not have to be cut up at all, however please ensure that all decorations, including lights, ornaments, and ribbons, are removed and tree is not in any sort of bag prior to drop off. Compost Site users must have an access pass which requires them to be a resident of Sherburne County. To learn more, please click here

Outdoor Ice Skating
Outdoor Ice Rinks Remain Closed

The recent snow/rain mix has not helped with ice making preparation at the city's outdoor rinks. The rinks will remain closed, and with cooling conditions and Mother Nature's cooperation, we're hoping to have them open for the community soon. Stay tuned - we'll spread the word as soon as they're open!

'Inside Elk River' Job
Shadow Video Series Debuts

A few weeks ago, we told you about a new video series “Inside Elk River” which documents Mayor Dietz and councilmembers as they gain some firsthand insight into a few of the various occupations by city staff, each of which is critical in their own way when it comes to overall efficiency and top notch service to the community.

First up, outgoing Councilmember Jerry Olsen (Ward 1) spent some time at Dave Anderson Athletic Complex to see what it takes to prep and maintain Elk River’s many athletic fields. Watch it here.

Also, be sure to check out Mayor John Dietz as he learns the ins and outs of Code Enforcement in Elk River from longtime city staff member Dave Hetrick. Watch it here.

Stay tuned for other councilmembers taking their turn at random City of Elk River jobs soon!
