Fall Clean Up Day

Fall Clean Up Day - TOMORROW

The bi-annual Elk River Fall Clean Up Day is tomorrow, Saturday, October 20 from 8:00 a.m. to noon at the Elk River Maintenance Facility, located at 19000 Proctor Ave. This event is open to all Sherburne County residents (with proof of residency), and gives people the opportunity to properly recycle and dispose of unwanted household items for free, or at a discounted cost.

Free items accepted during the cleanup include:  auto and household batteries, fluorescent bulbs and tubes, holiday strings of lights, handheld electronics, and scrap metal including bikes, grills, engines, lawn mowers, etc. Larger items like appliances, furniture, televisions, mattresses, and tires will be accepted for a fee ranging anywhere from $3.00 to $30.00 depending on the item(s). Participating residents have the option to print and complete an item drop-off form prior to the Clean Up Day, otherwise those forms will be available on site the day of the event. This form, along with a complete list of accepted items and associated fees are available here.

Liane Kondrak - October Volunteer of the Month

October Volunteer of the Month

Congrats to Liane Kondrak, Elk River’s October Volunteers of the Month. Liane is a champion when it comes to serving Parker Elementary School – she’s heavily involved in fundraisers and activities for school’s PTO, not to mention she leads the Junior Great Books reading program. In her free time, Liane can likely be found volunteering at Community Aid Elk River (CAER) food shelf. For the past five years she has assisted in coordinating outreach programs with CAER and Open Doors for Youth, while also sitting on the CAER Golf Classic fundraising committee.

Thank you for your continued service to this community, Liane!
