Proctor Ave. Utility Work Complete

All lanes of southbound Proctor Avenue, north of Hwy 10 are now open. Utility crews have been working in the area over the last two weeks, which caused the lane reduction. Thank you for your patience! 


Annual Elk River Dam Inspection

Annual Elk River Dam Inspection

Elk River Municipal Utilities conducted its annual inspection of the Elk River Dam on Wednesday, October 3, a deep dive into the nooks and crannies of the structure to ensure its operating as safe and efficiently as possible. In order to conduct the inspection, Lake Orono was lowered approximately 30 inches, keeping water from going over the dam. The inspection was completed the same day, and water levels have returned to normal.

Housing Rehabilitation 
Loan Program Informational Meeting

Thinking about starting a remodeling project? You may qualify for a low interest loan through Elk River’s Housing and Redevelopment Authority Housing Rehabilitation Loan Program. The program assists owner-occupied single-family homeowners within a targeted area of downtown Elk River make repairs/improvements ranging from landscaping, siding, fences, garages, wiring, plumbing, basement finishes and so much more. To learn more, and to find out if you qualify, stop by an informational meeting at City Hall on Tuesday, October 9 at 5:30 p.m. No RSVP is required.

Fall Clean Up Day

Save the Date - Fall Clean Up Day

Mark your calendars for the Fall Clean Up Day set for Saturday, October 20 from 8:00 a.m. to noon at the Elk River Maintenance Facility, located at 19000 Proctor Ave. This event is open to all Sherburne County residents (with proof of residency), and gives people the opportunity to properly recycle and dispose of unwanted household items for free, or at a discounted cost. 

Free items accepted during the cleanup include:  auto and household batteries, fluorescent bulbs and tubes, holiday strings of lights, handheld electronics, and scrap metal including bikes, grills, engines, lawn mowers, etc. Larger items like appliances, furniture, televisions, mattresses, and tires will be accepted for a fee ranging anywhere from $3.00 to $30.00 depending on the item(s). Participating residents have the option to print and complete an item drop-off form prior to the Clean Up Day, otherwise those forms will be available on site the day of the event. This form, along with a complete list of accepted items and associated fees are available here.
