Recycle Coach App - Never Miss Another Collection Day!

Never Miss a Collection Day with 'Recycle Coach' App

Everybody’s busy, and sometimes routine tasks slip through the cracks – like rolling your trash and recycling carts out to the curb. Did you know the City of Elk River has a free and easy way to never miss another collection day? Download the Recycle Coach app on your Apple or Android device, and customize it according to your specific hauler and collection zone. In just minutes, your personalized garbage and recycling calendar will be equipped to send you weekly collection reminders wherever you are, in whatever format you choose (SMS/voice/email). You’ll also be notified when holidays or inclement weather impact collection schedules. Another cool feature of Recycle Coach is the 10,000+ item directory full of household items often disposed of improperly. Simply type in the name of the item you’re curious about, the app will either tell you if it’s accepted by your hauler, or give you a list of local vendors who will be happy to take it off your hands.

Line Avenue Cul-de-Sac Project Suspended

With the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s (MnDOT) recent funding announcement for the Hwy 169 Redefine project, removing five stoplights along Hwy 169 from the Mississippi River north through Elk River, the City of Elk River has suspended work on the Line Avenue cul-de-sac project. Hwy 169 Redefine is in the early design phase, and without a clear understanding of how this project will impact surrounding local streets (like Line Avenue and others), it is best to suspend the project prior to land acquisition and construction. Designs for Hwy 169 Redefine are expected to be further defined in the fall of 2019, at which time city leaders will reexamine the Line Avenue cul-de-sac project to ensure compatibility with the future improvements slated for the 169 corridor.
