Reminder No Yard Waste In Curbside Trash

A friendly reminder that yard waste is not allowed in your curbside trash cart. All yard waste, tree clippings, brush, and grass can be dropped off at the Elk River Compost site at the Elk River Maintenance Facility for no charge.

Elections 2018

Seeking Election Judges

Election Judges are essential to our democracy! Election judges staff polling places, administer election procedures and ensure the rights of voters are protected on Election Day. The city needs about 100 elections judges for the August 14, 2018, Primary Election, and the November 6, 2018, General Election.
To be eligible, candidates must:


  • Be eligible to vote.
  • Be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Not be a spouse, parent, child, or sibling of a candidate on the ballot in the same precinct.
  • Complete a mandatory two-hour online election judge training. A link to the training will be emailed to you when you are hired.
  • Pay is $9.65 per hour.

Training and service on both the Primary and General election days are paid.

*Updated* Highway 10 - Lake Orono Bridge Project 

Eastbound Highway 10 is reduced to a single lane of traffic 24/7 between Joplin St and Upland Ave in Elk River. Westbound is open to two narrow lanes with periodic lane closures. Reduced speeds of 45 mph both directions through the work zone. Crews are currently in the process of reconstructing the westbound lanes and bridge. 

Access to local businesses and residences to be maintained and open, follow directional signs.
