State Launches COVID-19 Vaccine Connector

The State of Minnesota launched its COVID-19 Vaccine Connector tool to help you find when, where, and how to get your COVID-19 vaccine. Sign up by visiting MN.gov/VaccineConnector regardless of current eligibility. There is no cost and health insurance and personal identification forms are not required. The new tool will let you know you are eligible, connect you with resources to schedule a vaccine appointment, and notify you if there are vaccine opportunities in your area. Minnesotans unable to sign up online can call 1-833-431-2053 (tollfree) for assistance by phone.

While vaccine supply from the federal government is extremely limited and does not yet meet global demand, this tool is an important step toward connecting all Minnesotans with the vaccine so we can be ready as the supply increases in the coming months.

For more information about COVID-19 vaccinations in Minnesota, visit the Minnesota Department of Health’s COVID-19 Vaccine information hub.

What the City is Doing

Cleaning and sanitizing procedures have increased at high-traffic public spaces including:

  • City staff members with occupations that allow for it are working remotely.
  • Elk River Fire Department (ERFD) has joined the Minnesota State Fire Chiefs Association COVID-19 Task Force to assist with statewide coordination, collaboration, and communication on fire service issues related to COVID-19.
  • Elk River Police Department daily shift assignment in-person meetings have transitioned to a digital platform and all officers fully disinfect squads before and after their shifts and are encouraged to stay in the field for the entirety of their shift.

What You Can Do

As previously noted, vital city services will continue and residents are asked to do their part to avoid COVID-19 related impacts already present in other communities such as:

  • Don’t Flush Toilet Paper Alternatives - COVID-19 concerns have led to a shortage in toilet paper which has prompted many to seek alternative products like paper towels, facial tissues, "flushable" wipes, etc. These items are NOT a substitute for toilet paper and can cause sanitary sewer backups, which in turn can result in staffing disruptions and public health concerns.

Practice Good Hygiene

  • Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water often
  • Stay home when you feel ill
  • Cover your cough

Limit Potential Exposure

  • Cancel or postpone large events or gatherings of 50 or more people
  • Practice social distance when in public settings and discourage physical contact like handshakes, hugging, etc.
  • Limit/avoid travel, consider alternatives to ride sharing and public transportation when possible
