The City of Elk River Parks and Recreation Department hosts a farmers market from mid-June through the beginning of October in the heart of Elk River at the downtown Park Plaza lot located at 716 and 720 Main Street. The farmers market has live music as well as special guests and promotions throughout the season. Community Concerts at the Commons - New for 2020!
Join us on Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m. at Rivers Edge Commons Park in downtown Elk River for four weeks of free summer concerts, exclusively offered to Elk River residents. Community Concerts at the Commons will run from July 30 through August 20, featuring local performers from a variety of popular genres. Entertainment in the Park - Cancelled for 2020
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and concern for the safety and health of our patrons, musicians, and staff, the City of Elk River has canceled the Entertainment in the Park 2020 season.
Elk RiverFest - Cancelled for 2020
ElkRiverFest has become a new family favorite tradition in beautiful downtown Elk River. Complete with kids activities, vendor booths, Food Alley, Sips on Main (beer, wine and craft spirits tasting), live music, and fireworks, Elk RiverFest has something for the entire family. Learn more.
At the Monday, June 15 meeting, the Elk River City Council decided to cancel Elk RiverFest 2020 in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Months of planning and preparation is required to execute a community festival of this scale. While the idea of postponing the event was considered, uncertainty surrounding where Minnesota will be later this summer in regard to group gathering limitations and other state-mandated health and safety guidelines, the council felt it was in the best interest of staff, vendors, and residents to cancel Elk RiverFest this year.
Fireworks will go on as planned on Saturday, July 4 launched from Elk River High School starting at dusk.
Riverfront Concert Series - Cancelled for 2020
At the Monday, July 6 meeting, the Elk River City Council decided to cancel the Riverfront Concert Series for 2020 and replace it with community concerts, offered to Elk River residents only. In May, they had decided to cancel the concerts through June and reevaluate the situation before deciding on the July/August concerts. Under Emergency Executive Order 20-74, all gatherings are limited to 250 people or less. Night to Unite - Cancelled for 2020
This annual event offers residents a unique opportunity to get to know their neighbors, chat with local law enforcement officials, and ultimately build a safer community. For over 20 years, Elk River neighborhoods have organized Night to Unite block-parties, and last year 56 gatherings were held city-wide.
