Elk River has 151 miles of city streets. When it snows, we try to rapidly and efficiently clear streets so you and our emergency vehicles can drive safely.Plowing snow is a hazardous, tiring, and stressful job that often involves overnight work and long hours. Our plows are very large and it is difficult to efficiently maneuver around vehicles parked on the street. Daytime plowing clears drive lanes so you can get to work and school. Nighttime plowing clears streets from curb to curb for safe passage and parking. With snow present or expected, we declare a parking ban for all city streets. The parking ban is in effect from 2:00 to 6:00 a.m. until all streets are clear of snow. Vehicles not moved will be ticketed.Do you park on a city street in Elk River?
